CHARLESTON, WV – Today, The United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) West Virginia Council of the Coal Miners Political Action Committee (COMPAC) endorsed Kanawha County Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.

The UMWA joins West Virginia Sheriffs and police officers in supporting Judge Bailey.

UMWA International President Cecil E. Roberts said, “Judge Bailey has proven time and again that she will keep politics out of the courtroom and stand up against special interests. She is a true West Virginian who understands coal mining families in the Kanawha Valley. Judge Bailey’s experience matters and her ability to deliver swift justice is critical to all working people. The fact that her opponent was recruited and is funded by Don Blankenship and his allies should be troubling to everyone who cares about fairness and justice in our courts. We are grateful to Judge Bailey for upholding the rule of law and serving with integrity.”

Judge Bailey said, “Having the support of the UMWA is such an honor because West Virginia coal miners helped build this country and the middle-class."
